2018 Rumble @ 18 Road will be held at a new location and this means better trail selections and better event venue! We’re very excited… 2017 will be the re-creation year to further improve Rumble @ 18 Road. This will allow us more time to coordinate with BLM and surrounding organizations to ensure the next version of Rumble @ 18 Road will sustain for years to come!

Dates: April 21-20, 2018 (Saturday – Sunday)
Backup: May 28-29, 2018 (in case of poor weather & trail conditions).
Race Location: The famous 18 Road Trails in Fruita, Colorado. (Please note new location of Start / Finish / Staging / Parking)
Available Races:
- Trail Running (TBA) – Saturday morning.
- Short Track Mountain Biking – Saturday late morning to evening (20 minutes per race – see “Race Schedule” for start times).
- Cross Country Mountain Biking – Sunday (various distances – see “Race Schedule” for distances for specific categories).
- Rumble at 18 Road is an official American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC) race for Nationals Qualifier… Top 10 riders in each class and category qualify to compete in USA Cycling National Championships!
- Non-USAC annual license categories (Mad Cat and Never Ever) are also available. You will still be required to purchase a 1 day USAC license for your safety and insurance coverage.
- Mad Cat: If you typically race with Pros or Cat 1s and want to put in more racing time (more laps than Cat 2).
- Never Ever: If you’re new to the racing scene and want to get a taste, this is for you.
- Cat 2/3: You can still race with Cat 2 or 3 – your points just will not count toward the championship without the USAC annual license.
Entry Fees include: tech t-shirts for early pre-regs (register by March 31 to get the free shirt!), aid station goodies, a chance for place winner medals, Saturday Night Concert & Fire Dancing show, and post-race refreshments. Entry fee is non-refundable, however transferable for $20.
Junior Development
The top five riders in these categories and age-groups will be extended USAC Regional Development Camp invitations: Category 2: 15/16 male, 15/16 female, 17/18 male, 17/18 female. The invitations may be used for 2014 or 2015 camps. Athletes that are 14 years old must qualify through the 15/16 category. Results in the 13/14 category will not be counted toward camp qualification.
USA Cycling’s Regional Talent ID Camps are well staffed, with USAC certified coaches and mechanics. The camp introduces athletes to USA Cycling’s development pathway while also providing USA Cycling the opportunity to evaluate talent. Each USA Cycling Regional Talent ID Camp includes five days of activities, including field testing and other selection activities. Camp staff includes the camp manager, lead coach, assistant coaches, athlete alumni, mechanics, and ride leaders. About the USA Cycling American Mountain Bike Challenge (AMBC)
Created in 1996 to recognize, support, and provide top-level regional racing opportunities for racers of all abilities. AMBC competitions are excellent places for riders to try the racing scene for the first time or seasoned athletes to test their skills against their fellow racers. All AMBC events offer cross-country racing, with some events also including downhill, dual slalom, four cross, short-track cross-country, and/or observed trials competitions. THIS EVENT WILL BE CHIP TIMED: You’ll pick up your timing chip on race day. NO CHIP, NO RESULT. These do not need to be turned back in after your race.
Cyclists: You’ll receive a race plate with timing chips already attached on the back. Bib numbers are required to be placed on your back as well.

Licenses:
If you don’t have a USA Cycling License, you may purchase a one day ($10 each, including pre-ride days). We recommend that you purchase your annual license now – please minimize our work onsite by having your license ready!
Pro and Cat 1 racers must have an annual license, no exceptions. Those that want to race the full Cat 1/Pro distances and/or do not have annual licenses, you may participate in the Mad Cat race with the one day license (your points won’t count toward Nationals).

- 8am – 5pm (you must have a license OR one-day license to pre-ride the course – this is for both the Race Director and your insurance coverage, otherwise you put both of us at jeopardy. Please understand and support this!).

- 6pm – 9pm (short break to enjoy the pros short track races & ceremonies).

Pro STXC Purse (Saturday): The cash purse will depend on the number of Pro entrants, with $25 from each entry going toward their respective cash purse (the other $3 will be used for the required USAC insurance). The Pro STXC cash purse will be split 45% – 35% – 20%.
Pro XCO Purse (Sunday): Female and Male equal payouts: 1st – $350, 2nd – $250, 3rd – $150. Total Pro Cash Purse = $1,500.

If Rumble @ 18 Road sees over 200 participants in one day, MAD Racing will start giving $5 per participant to each organization (total of $10 per participant in donations)!! This is your land, so let’s all work together and use the available dumpsters for the weekend – please go the extra mile to pick up the extra trash found out along the course, even if you\’re not racing. This way we can leave it better than we found it.

All or part of this operation is conducted on public lands under special permit from the US Bureau of Land Management.
Refund / Changes Policy:
- No refunds, but we’ll allow entry transfer from one athlete to another for a $20 processing fee.
- Changes, updates, or category switches are allowed for a $10 processing fee.
In case of inclement weather / poor trail conditions:
- Be sure to plan for back-up date of April 28-29, 2018.
- Most races do not provide this; we are driven to make this awesome event happen!
- Entry fees are not transferable to next year if you cannot make the back-up date.
- It is hardly our fault that weather or life happens, so please understand that we don’t grant refunds regardless. You’re welcome to transfer entries for $20 processing fee.

Road Shower – Sleek portable shower systems that can be mounted almost anywhere. They’ll have the product onsite to show it off and you might have to ask your loved ones ahead of time before seeing these. These are slick!
Rocky Mountain Sanitation – Providing solid and liquid waste removal for more than 12,000 commercial, construction and residential customers in Mesa County, including our awesome event! Thanks for your porta potties and trash cans, which will aid us keep BLM lands clean!
Sprouts – Free post-race refreshments and food (fruits, snacks, water, coconut water, and more).
Tabeguache Sports Medicine – Medical support, shall you need some cleaning or minor medical attention. Emergency situations will be serviced by either St. Mary’s or Family Health West, which will be determined case by case.
