When: February 22 – 24, 2019

Location: Powderhorn Mountain Resort’s bottom parking lot (Mesa, CO)

What: Winter Sports Festival provides the opportunity to demo the latest winter endurance sport gear and push yourselves with the races throughout the weekend, including cross country ski races, MADhorn Fat Bike Race, snowshoe 5k run race, and a winter-athlon (3 sports completed triathlon style) event!

Feb. 22, 2019 (Friday) – Winter Sport Demos and Night Snowshoe Race

Day Details: Get off work early on Friday to demo and check out the latest winter endurance sport gear from vendors on the newly formed Odin Sports Center groomed trails & some of Powderhorn’s designated uphill routes:

  • Loki Gear – Transformative winter clothing & gear
  • Odin Sports Center – Snowshoes & XC skis
  • Bicycle Outfitters – Fat Bike demos
  • Discount Bicycle Warehouse – Bike maintenance service
  • Pending:
    • Fisher – XC skis & fat bikes
    • Grand Mesa Nordic Council (GMNC) – Winter non-profit organization maintaining trails on the top of the Mesa & offering races and clinics throughout the winter.


Schedule (open to public unless stated otherwise):

  • 9:00am-1:00pm: Vendor Village set up time in venue (private)
  • 1:00pm-5:00pm: Winter Sport Demos provided by various vendors
    • Registration & Packet Pickup open.
    • PLEASE DO NOT RIDE BIKES ON THE SKI SLOPES – it’s not designated as a fat bike resort and does not have the liability to cover it unless it’s a special event.
  • 5:00pm-7:00pm: Ziggy Stardusk Snowshoe 2.5k & 5k Races
    • Awards followed closely after last finisher  @ Odin Sports Center

Feb. 23, 2019 (Saturday) – Winter Sport Demos, XC Ski Race, and MADhorn Fat Bike Race

Event Details: Winter fanatics will explore the continuously expanding brand new trail network being developed and managed by Odin Sports Center located below the bottom parking lot of Powderhorn. In the past, these trails were used primarily for the Webe Race motorcycle races. Now there are wide paths packed by snowmobiles / groomers by Odin Sports Center for nordic skiing, fat biking, and snowshoeing!

Course Stats: To be released onsite. Come, play, and explore the trails anytime – visits outside the WSF are subject to daily fees by OSC.

Schedule (open to public unless stated otherwise):

  • 7:00am-12:00pm – Late Registration / Packet Pickup open ($10 increase for day of)
  • 8:00am-4:00pm: Demos open – Odin Sports Center trails limited to race participation. Portion of venue and small portion of trails will be available for additional demo experience. Best demo experience will be Friday with trails being wide open to testing.
    • PLEASE DO NOT RIDE BIKES ON THE SKI SLOPES – it’s not designated as a fat bike resort and does not have the liability to cover it unless it’s a special event.
  • 8:00am – Odin Sports Center 2.5k & 5k Skate
  • 9:15am – Barneloppet Kids XC Skate Ski race
  • 10:30am – MADhorn Fat Bike Race (4 laps of 2.5k = 10k)
  • 12:00pm: Awards / Prize Drawing  @ Odin Sports Center
    • Continue demos all afternoon!

Feb. 24, 2019 (Sunday) – MAD Odin Winter-athlon

Course Details: 3 sports will be completed “triathlon style” as follows:

  • Start in Odin Sports Center area, descend/ascend 2 miles, depending on course conditions and then ascend/descend back to the starting point
  • Transition to fat bikes
  • Complete approx. 5km fat bike route/loops in the Odin trails
  • Transition to snowshoes
  • Complete 5 km snowshoe route/loops again in the Odin trails

Solo and Team options available. We encourage you to participate in the day prior and recruit your teammates then! Sign up early to lock in the current price and finalize your teams Saturday evening during/after the awards ceremony.  **Day of registration not available for Odin MADness Winter-athlon – must pick up either Friday or Saturday!!! Saturday evening pickup will be subjected to $10 increase.**
